German in playgroup.
A natural entry into the language
The language situation of children growing up with a minority language is special and represents a unique challenge. Children often understand their native language well, but their active use often falls short of expectations. This is because their language possibilities in the majority society are limited and they do not have the same diversity of communication opportunities as in the most widely spoken language. For a language to be truly relevant to children, it must have clear use and meaning in their everyday lives.
Playgroups offer precisely this opportunity: they create a space where children can actively listen to, speak, and use German outside of the family context. The more contact children have with different people, the more likely it is that German will become an active language within the family. Regular interaction with other children in a relaxed, playful environment naturally fosters language development.
All the children in the playgroup are in a similar linguistic situation: they are between 3 and 6 or 7 and 10 years old and grow up in a multilingual environment, but German is rarely used in play with other children, as kindergarten and school are taught in Spanish and Catalan. This is precisely where our playgroup comes into play: it's a place where German is playfully integrated into everyday life. Through play and fun, a completely natural incentive to use the language is created. The children learn that German is a useful, living, and active language that can also be used in everyday life.
I support the children in actively using German and foster their language development in a targeted manner, so that they can integrate German naturally into their everyday lives.
German for Little Explorers 🐣
For children ages 3 to 6 (with a family member)
Develop your German by playing and learning together
.png)
This German playgroup is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 6 growing up in a multilingual environment and follows a special approach that supports natural language acquisition processes. In this group, the child is always accompanied by a German-speaking parent, meaning the children can learn in a familiar and close environment. This is especially important, as language learning for children growing up with multiple languages can be a particular challenge.
The group's focus is to introduce the German language to children in a playful way. This is achieved through a variety of activities such as games, crafts, singing, and dancing, all in a relaxed and nurturing atmosphere. Shared experience and discovery are a fundamental part of the learning process. Only in a stress-free and joyful state can children naturally absorb the language and actively use it.
Language development in children growing up in a multilingual environment follows a different pace than that of children learning only one language. These children often first develop a passive understanding of the language before beginning to actively use it. The challenge is that German in their daily lives may not play the same role as the majority language spoken in kindergarten or school. Therefore, it is crucial that they have the opportunity to hear and use German regularly in a playful and accessible context.
In our playgroup, the group language is always German, but children can rely on the support of their parents in this safe environment. The presence of parents helps avoid separation fears and ensures that children feel comfortable and secure with the new language. Special attention is paid to ensuring that language learning and development occur in a playful, pressure-free manner. This way, children can interact with the language at their own pace and in the way that feels most comfortable for them.
The combination of repeated, natural use of the language, along with parental support, creates an optimal learning environment. The more children hear German in games, songs, and daily activities, the more likely they are to actively use it in their daily lives. The likelihood of German becoming an active language in the family also increases when the child has positive and varied experiences with the language, whether through exchanges with other children or through games shared with parents.
In this family environment, children can advance their language development at their own pace, without pressure or fear. The goal is to introduce German to children joyfully and without imposition, so that they experience the language as a lively and valuable tool for communication.

German Club 🦋
For children ages 7 to 10
Develop your German through play and exploration
.png)
In this playgroup, children between the ages of 7 and 10 have the opportunity to discover German in a fun and creative way, without the company of their parents. In a small group of a maximum of six children, everyone can speak, play, and learn at their own pace, in a relaxed yet stimulating environment.
I have created a space where they can actively use German, without it feeling like an obligation. Through play, movement, and creativity, I help them expand their vocabulary and express themselves more confidently in German.
I work with creative methods tailored to their interests and needs. We play together, solve puzzles, do projects, write short stories, and explore music and theater. Each child can participate in their own way, whether as part of a team or individually. The important thing is that they use German naturally and without fear of making mistakes.
I know how important it is for children to feel safe and motivated. That's why I place a lot of emphasis on creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable and eager to speak German. There's no pressure or exams here, just the opportunity to learn spontaneously, through games, and in good company.
If your child already understands German and you want them to speak it more confidently, this is the perfect opportunity. In this small group, I can provide personalized attention to each child and adapt to their needs. My goal is for the children to discover that German is a living and useful language, full of possibilities and fun.
Individual classes for young people growing up in a multilingual environment 🦊
.png)
Many young people who grow up in a multilingual environment have excellent oral proficiency in German: they speak fluently and without difficulty. However, they often have insecurities in their written expression and in the application of German grammar. The challenge is that these young people do not fit into either a beginner's or an advanced course, as they often communicate very well but lack basic grammatical structures. Therefore, a standard German course is not the right solution.
For this group, I offer personalized classes, tailored to the individual needs and prior knowledge of the young people. Throughout my experience teaching multilingual young people, I have seen how important it is to address each student's personal strengths and challenges. Many have had negative experiences in standard courses, which has caused them to lose interest and motivation in learning German.
My goal is to offer fun and engaging German classes. We avoid the boredom that often arises in standard courses and foster interest in the language. Classes are designed to address all German learning skills—whether speaking, listening, reading, or writing—and especially those areas that have not been sufficiently addressed, improving them actively and individually.
Classes are always taught in a dynamic manner and tailored to individual needs, fostering a pleasant and motivating learning environment and clearly personalizing the learning process.
