German in family
For children ages 3 to 6. Develop your German by playing and learning together.
Service Description
This German playgroup is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 6 growing up in a multilingual environment and follows a special approach that supports natural language acquisition processes. In this group, the child is always accompanied by a German-speaking parent, meaning the children can learn in a familiar and close environment. This is important, as language learning for children growing up with multiple languages can be challenging. The group's focus is to introduce the German language to children in a playful way. This is achieved through a variety of activities such as games, crafts, singing, and dancing, all in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Shared experience and discovery are a fundamental part of the learning process. Only in a stress-free and joyful state can children naturally incorporate the language and actively use it. The challenge is that German may not play the same role in their daily lives as the majority language spoken in kindergarten or school. Therefore, it is crucial that they have the opportunity to hear and use German regularly in a playful and engaging context. In our playgroup, the language of the group is always German, but children can rely on their parents for support in this safe environment. The presence of parents helps avoid separation fears and ensures that children feel comfortable and secure with the new language. Special attention is paid to ensuring that language learning and development occur in a playful, pressure-free manner. This allows children to interact with the language at their own pace and in the way that feels most comfortable for them. The combination of repeated, natural language use, along with parental support, creates an optimal learning environment. The more children hear German in games, songs, and daily activities, the more likely they are to actively use it in their daily lives. The likelihood that German will also become an active language in the family increases when the child has positive and varied experiences with the language. In this family environment, children can advance their language development at their own pace, without pressure or fear. The goal is to introduce German to children joyfully and without imposition, so that they experience the language as a lively and valuable communication tool.
